About the role

Our Resource Development department is looking for a Superintendent Geology who will be part of a team responsible for the execution and delivery of evaluation and exploration programs. Resource Development is a team within the Winu Project, and to be successful needs to work closely with many internal and external stakeholders (including Technical, CSP and Approvals), to ensure on-time successful project delivery.
In this role you will support, lead and develop a team of supervisors and assist in managing a team of drilling contractors on site.
This is a FIFO role on a 2/2 roster out of Perth.
Reporting to the Principal Adviser Resource Development, you will:
4. Leadership and training of teams in safety management systems, risks, policies and procedures
5. Driving operational and technical excellence by mentoring and identifying development opportunities for team members
6. Working closely with technical and operations stakeholders both on site and within the wider business
7. Lead planning and design drill programs for risk management in resources and reserves (grade, metallurgical, geotechnical, density, environmental and hydrogeology)
8. Lead collection and interpretation of data from drill programs
9. Lead accurate collection of downhole geophysical data to support geological interpretation
10. Ensure compliance to all standards and procedures relating to data collection and field work
11. Ensure sampling and QA/QC of geological data is maintained to a high standard
12. Lead delivery of reporting obligations and expenditure to maintain tenure
13. Lead the management and timely delivery of technical projects related to developing and improving geological knowledge within the Project area
14. Lead in reviewing existing technical processes and implementing new ones.
15. Forecast correct cost allocations of project expenditure and flag budget variations
16. Provide leadership and support for contractor management through regular reviews and feedback
17. Compliance with government permits and all related licences to operate
18. Support and coordinate delivery of reporting obligations and expenditure to maintain tenure.
19. Liaise with team members and stakeholders on drilling and evaluation priorities.
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, you will have:
20. Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Geology (or related field) with practical experience in exploration, evaluation or hydrogeology
21. Demonstrated knowledge of mining/mapping and modelling software packages (preferably LeapFrog, ArcMap and acQuire)
22. Copper experience is preferred, as well as an understanding of the relevant exploration and evaluation techniques
23. Proven leadership capabilities
24. Previous experience / exposure to diamond, RC and hydro drilling programs are essential
25. Strong analytical and inter-personal skills.

Where you’ll be working
Winu is a 100% Rio Tinto owned copper-gold mineralisation project in the Yeneena Basin of the Paterson Province in Western Australia. The project is located approximately 130 km north of the Telfer mine and 350 km southeast of Port Hedland. Teams at Winu are taking an agile approach to greenfield project development and being innovative in the way we bring a mine from exploration to production.
