Overview
Associate Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Engineer – Water Infrastructure at SMEC
Responsibilities
* Provide leadership and proactively collaborate with Water Infrastructure team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables
* Detailed design of electrical, instrumentation and control systems with a focus on LV electrical systems including schematics, equipment layout, motor control centres and communications systems, SCADA, instrumentation and PLCs
* Provide technical reports and specifications for projects (design reports, functional descriptions, technical specifications)
* Apply project management principles in carrying out assigned tasks and accomplish project deliverables to the required standard in a timely manner
With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained experience in an engineering design consultancy and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and RPEQ (or ability to obtain)
* Relevant 10+ years' experience in Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Engineering experience, ideally gained within the water sector or industrial plant
* CHAZOP experience highly desirable
* Familiarity with standards, conceptual and detailed design, and design management of electrical infrastructure
* Design experience with knowledge of industry standards
* Strong skills in instrumentation, controls, SCADA and LV design
* Applied knowledge of relevant standards including AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 3008.1.1
* Experience with design software such as PowerCAD is preferred
* Well-developed communication skills with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
