An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) with demonstrated expertise across PACU and Anaesthetics to join a high-performing perioperative team in Newcastle.
This role is ideal for a senior perioperative nurse who is passionate about clinical excellence, patient safety, and supporting best practice across the perioperative continuum.
About the Role As the Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will provide advanced clinical leadership and expertise across Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) and Anaesthetics, supporting both clinical staff and medical teams. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of care, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide advanced clinical expertise in PACU and Anaesthetics
* Support and mentor nursing staff within the perioperative unit
* Lead and contribute to clinical governance, education, and quality improvement initiatives
* Ensure safe, evidence-based perioperative patient care
* Collaborate closely with Anaesthetists and the wider perioperative team
Essential Criteria
* Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
* Significant experience in both PACU and Anaesthetics (essential)
* Demonstrated experience working at a senior clinical level (CNS or equivalent)
* Strong clinical leadership and communication skills
* Postgraduate qualification in perioperative nursing (highly regarded)
