This major greenfield EHV transmission network project will integrate 7 GW of renewable projects, creating a reliable, purpose-built network for NSW.Are you tired of repetitive connection work?Do you want to understand control methods for the power system?Are you interested in system-wide understanding beyond just connections?Have you been frustrated with current processes and want to solve complex problems?A dedicated team of power engineers has been established to solve the integration of renewable energy generators into the planned REZ network, becoming a new Network Service Provider.This team combines skills in power engineering control methods to foster a collaborative, problem-solving culture focused on gaining broader experience and improving engineering practices for renewable technology integration.As this is a greenfield network under design, this role offers an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in transmission network development, generator control system integration, and throughout the full project lifecycle.About The RoleUsing your skills in power system analysis software and scripting, you will work with a team of world-class power engineers on system models to assess generator performance and control coordination.You will work independently and collaboratively to solve network control problems and deliver a future-oriented project supporting NSW.Your tasks will include generator performance assessments, control integration, network studies, and addressing future power system challenges.Key responsibilities include:Integrating and assessing generator dynamic models using PSS/E or PSCAD.Using Python scripts to conduct power system studies, analyze results, and prepare technical reports.Identifying and troubleshooting issues within models and software.Evaluating generator compliance with standards and recommending improvements.Collaborating with teams to deliver high-quality analyses and reports.Participating in all project phases from design to operation.This role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane, with a hybrid work environment.About YouBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or higher), majoring in power and control.Approximately 3+ years’ experience in power system studies, generator controls, network planning, or connection studies.Experience with PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, or Matlab.Strong understanding of generator performance standards and compliance documentation.Proficient in technical report writing and communicating complex concepts clearly.Strong problem-solving skills and team effectiveness.If interested, please contact Nick Novak at West Energy on 0483 945 154.Additional DetailsSeniority Level: Mid-Senior levelEmployment Type: Full-timeIndustries: Renewable Energy, Electric Power Transmission, Control, Utilities
