About the role
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who's ready to operate at the level just below Partner, not just in title but in impact.
As an Associate Director at Carbon Ipswich, you'll play a key role in leading client relationships, managing a substantial portfolio, and shaping the strategic direction of our Accounting & Tax division. You'll sit between Senior Manager and Partner, acting as a trusted adviser to clients, a leader to your team and a commercial contributor to the business.
This role has a direct pathway to partnership, with salary and/or equity options available for the right person.
Job Requirements
* A minimum of 7 years' experience in public practice
* CPA or CA qualification (Public Practice Certificate desirable)
* Advanced technical experience across accounting and taxation
* Proven experience managing client portfolios and leading teams
* Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
* Confidence working in a fast‑paced, high‑expectation environment
* Experience with Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and the Microsoft Office suite

Job Responsibilities
* Managing and growing a high‑value portfolio of clients across a range of industries
* Delivering high‑level advisory across taxation, compliance, structuring, trusts, companies and succession planning
* Reviewing and signing off complex tax returns, financial statements and compliance engagements
* Acting as a trusted adviser to business owners, providing practical, commercial advice
* Leading and managing a team of direct reports, including Senior Managers and Managers
* Coaching, mentoring and developing future leaders through regular feedback and performance reviews
* Making remuneration, promotion and development recommendations to Partners
* Driving engagement, accountability and capability across your team
* Contributing to business development through identifying opportunities within the client base
* Leading proposals, pricing discussions and client presentations
* Working closely with Partners on strategy, capacity planning, budgeting and operational improvement
* Playing an active role in firm‑wide initiatives including client experience programmes, workflow automation and AI adoption
