An exciting opportunity exists for a Independent Patient Rights Advisor to join our Independent Patient Rights Advisory Team. The purpose of this role is to advise patients and their nominated support persons, family, carers and other support persons of their rights under the Mental Health Act 2016. Sunshine Coast Health is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north. Key Responsibilities include: * Ensure that a patient, and the patient's nominated support persons, family, carers and other support persons are advised of their rights and responsibilities under the Act. * Help the patient and the patient's nominated support persons, family, carers and other support persons to communicate to health practitioners the patient's views, wishes and preferences about the patient's treatment and care. * Develop, implement and evaluate project activities that will result in effective engagement with all stakeholders and provide advocacy for mental health issues. * Consult with authorised mental health practitioners, authorised doctors, administrators of authorised mental health services; and the Chief Psychiatrist, on the rights of patients under the Act, the Guardianship and Administration Act 2000, the Powers of Attorney Act 1998/; and other laws. Remuneration based pro rata on equivalent full time value up to $171 568 p.a, comprising salary rates: $70.66 - $75.83 p.h, employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (AO7) (fixed term temporary part time, 45.6 hrs p.f up until 30/06/2027).
