Job Overview
Chefs and cooks are required for a busy Indian restaurant in Mackay QLD.
Candidates must have experience in Indian cuisine, with the breakfast chef/cook position requiring experience in both Indian and traditional Australian breakfast dishes or a willingness to learn.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about cooking delicious food and have excellent time management skills.
They must also have effective communication and teamwork skills, along with the ability to work well under pressure.
Visa sponsorship is available for candidates with the right qualifications.
Main Responsibilities:
* Maintain operational knowledge of recipes, portion sizes, and presentation styles.
* Assist in creating menus considering food and labour costs.
* Monitor food preparation issues and ensure compliance with hygiene standards.
* Supervise and train junior kitchen staff.
* Deal with food complaints efficiently.
Key Qualifications:
* Diploma of Commercial Cookery or Hospitality plus 2 years' experience.
* Operating a tandoor oven, cooking meat and breads.
* Preparing curries, sauces, and desserts as per standard and style set by the Head Chef(s).
Additional Roles:
* Indian Cuisine Chef/Cook (sous): same responsibilities as listed above.
* Breakfast Chef/Cook: prepare diverse menu items, ensure high standards of food quality and presentation.
