The Role
The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is 'exceptional care, healthier lives'. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.
SESLHD's Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Service (SHBBV) provide leadership, innovation and research in the sector. Services within SHBBV are involved in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs) and blood borne viruses at an individual and population level within SESLHD, as well as four statewide services.
Across these services, care is provided via fixed locations and outreach networks to a client base of approximately 28,000 individuals. SHBBV has highly skilled and diverse staff including nursing, medical, allied health, health promotion, administrative and technical staff. It is the largest SHBBV service in Australia.
The Kirketon Road Centre (KRC) is a targeted primary health care service located in Kings Cross, Sydney involved in the prevention, treatment and care of Human immunodeficiency Virus infection (HIV)/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and other transmissible infections among people who inject drugs, sex workers, people experiencing homelessness, 'at risk' young people and Aboriginal people.
As a Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) in SESLHD you will play a pivotal role in developing KRC Crown and other KRC related sites in clinical service and consultancy, clinical leadership, research, education and clinical services planning and management. The CNC will lead and provide expert clinical consultancy practice in the development and implementation of a service; provide leadership and direction for quality improvement and clinical service standards; lead skill development in coaching, clinical supervision and leadership; act as a role model, be responsible for engaging with staff, carers, patients and consumers to facilitate, support, and evaluate practice change related to patient care, fostering excellence in clinical, educational and professional leadership.
As the CNC you will utilise your extensive experience and/or qualifications to provide HIV prevention including the provision of pre exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and testing to people who use drugs, people who sex work and other vulnerable populations. The CNC will work in a variety of outreach locations including the Needle and Syringe Program. The nurse will establish a nurse-led PrEP service within these settings. The CNC will support Project Officers and Peer Workers to engage and provide access to HIV prevention in these settings and to develop and maintain relationships with key partner organisations. These services will be incorporated into the provision of a nurse-led targeted primary care service.
You will be part of a team that strives to support each other to reach our potential, focus on what matters most and continue to be innovative in approaches to practice.
