Primary objective

Primary objective
To design and deliver best practice information and interpretation that includes digital and non-digital interpretive resources, programs and services for Parks and Wildlife.

Key duties and responsibilities
* To implement Territory wide standards and guidelines that underpin and maintain best practice approaches, delivery and evaluation of Park interpretation programs and materials.
* To research and develop suitable pre-visit information for visitors to Parks and ensure they have their basic safety and orientation needs met in NT Park environments.
* Contribute as part of team to the design, development, production and delivery of a range of interpretive products including the Parks and Wildlife pages on the NTG website, signage and displays, publications, face-to-face delivery programs and digital media.
* Undertake effective consultation and engagement to ensure involvement of Aboriginal Custodians, Parks and Wildlife staff and other relevant stakeholders in Park interpretation projects.
* Operate within a strong safety culture and implement defined Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures while delivering Departmental services.
Selection criteria

Essential

* A sound understanding of current trends in digital and non-digital environmental and heritage interpretation theories, techniques, materials and technologies and their application in a remote complex environment.
* Strong written and oral communication skills; including demonstrated ability to write creatively, with experience in delivering environmental content. Capacity to edit and review texts and documents to communicate with a variety of audiences.
* Demonstrated knowledge of project management methodologies, practices and techniques and contractor management/supervision; with a proven ability to meet set timeframes and project targets.
* Demonstrated understanding of components of technical design documentation and standards
* Well-developed computer skills and experience using a range of desktop publishing programs, such as Adobe Creative Suite.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a creative team environment displaying appropriate judgement, flexibility, organisational awareness, problem solving and decision-making skills.
* Demonstrated working knowledge, understanding and respect for diverse cultures and a capacity to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Current Northern Territory Drivers licence or ability to transfer interstate licence.
Desirable
* Qualifications and/or experience in the field of Park Interpretation or Communications.
* Good understanding of park and visitor management and relevant compliance issues or demonstrated ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
Further information

This position requires travel to regional and remote areas within the Division's network to undertake field-based duties, and some afterhours work.
