Graduate Ecologist role in Brisbane supporting ecological consulting across mining, infrastructure, and land development projects at SGME.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting senior ecologists with field surveys, data collection, ecological assessments, and report preparation
* Assisting with flora and fauna surveys, habitat assessments, data analysis, and mapping
* Contributing to ecological reports and management plans
* Participating in fieldwork, including regional and remote locations
* Developing knowledge of environmental legislation and best practice
* Working within a multidisciplinary consulting team
About You
The company is looking for:
* Recent graduate or early-career ecologist with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in ecology, environmental science, or related discipline
* Sound understanding of terrestrial ecology and biodiversity principles
* Motivated to learn, adaptable, and eager to develop skills across various projects and environments
* Skills or willingness to develop skills in flora and fauna identification
* Strong written and verbal communication abilities
* Positive, collaborative team player with a current driver's licence
* Willingness to participate in fieldwork, including regional and remote locations
* Eligibility to work in Australia
* Previous fieldwork experience (university projects, internships, vacation work) highly regarded but not essential
