The opportunity
Saab is an industry participant in the Combat Systems Integration - Integrated Project Team (CSI-IPT) Collaboration Agreement or (CCA). The CSI-IPT CCA forms a collaborative enterprise organisation to execute scopes of work across Hobart Class Destroyer (SEA4000 Phase 6 and other related Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) upgrades) and the Hunter Class Frigates (HCFs - SEA5000 Phase 1). This will see independently executed programs such as SEA4000 Phase 6 and SEA5000 Phase 1 brought under one umbrella enterprise organisation, the CSI-IPT.
The CSI-IPT will be built up with personnel from three industry participants and the Commonwealth of Australia to form a collaborative team working across multiple programs to leverage synergies between platforms.
The role
The Cyber Security Specialist will support the DDG Cybersecurity Team that forms a part of the Specialty Engineering Team within the broader DDG CSI organisation.
The Cybersecurity Team is primarily responsible for expert advice, guidance and analysis relating to engineering changes that will be installed on the in-service Hobart Class DDG within the RAN fleet. The majority of these changes fall within the broader Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) Project.
They contribute to architecture development and design coordination activities, including the conduct of technical investigations, performing risk assessments, and identifying opportunities for programmatic efficiencies across different phases of the engineering lifecycle.
In this role, the Cyber Security Specialist - with specific tasking direction and support from the Cybersecurity Lead - will support the Cybersecurity Team in their contribution to the execution of the following activities:
- Integrate cyber-worthiness considerations into the engineering effort for systems, subsystems and networks
- Contribute to ICT, Emanation or Physical security certification and accreditation activities throughout the engineering lifecycle
- Assess and mitigate system security threats/risks throughout the program life cycle
- Identify, define, and analyse system security requirements
- Plan and conduct security test and evaluation activities
- Prepare and develop security documentation to support system authorisation
- Provide expert advice, guidance, analysis and support relating to engineering change proposals covering:
- Define the security requirements for the system, subsystems and components
- Review system, subsystem and component design artefacts
- Liaise with Australian Defence Security Authorities
- Produce/maintain security documentation to support achieving ICT, Emanation and Physical Security accreditation of the systems and networks.
- Versatile work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role._
About you
- Your skills and experience will include:_
- A tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant discipline (computer science, software engineering, etc), and/or equivalent relevant experience (preferably within the defence industry)
- The systems engineering lifecycle and methodologies
- Reviewing, interpreting and implementing Information Security Manual or NIST SP 800 53 controls
- Interpreting security requirements, analysing and recommending security measures and policies
- Designing and implementing ICT security policies
- Security information and event management tools and analytics
- Evaluating ICT infrastructure (hardware/software) configurations for security vulnerabilities
- Technical documentation
- Working in defence or critical infrastructure
- Current cyber security risks and experience implementing security solutions
- Implementing multi-factor authentication, single sign-on, identity management or related technologies
- Overseeing security testing and make recommendations to improve, liaise and schedule external parties to validate as appropriate
- Ability to engage with a broad cross-section of personnel to influence and enforce security measure
- Significant experience in a customer liaison role
- A thorough understanding of the Australian Government security accreditation/authorisation process.
Applicants need to be Australian citizens and either hold an AGSVA NV1 or NV2 clearance, or have the ability to obtain one.
