The Hospital:

The Royal Children's Hospital's (RCH) Vision is "A world where all kids thrive".

RCH is a cornerstone member of the Melbourne Children's Campus, partnering with Murdoch Children's Research Institute, The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics and The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation.

RCH has cared for the children and young people of Victoria for more than 150 years since it was founded in 1870. A full range of paediatrics and adolescent health services are provided plus tertiary and quaternary care for the most critically ill and medically complex patients in Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and other states around Australia and overseas. The Hospital has more than 6,000 staff, a budget of $850M, 12 wards and 350 beds. Annually, the RCH has 300,000+ Specialist Clinic appointments, 90,000+ Emergency Department presentations and 20,000 elective surgeries.

The Role:

This is a Permanent position at 76 per fortnight within Early Learning.

You will be an active team member in the provision of high quality early childhood education and care, including developing strong relationships with children, families, educators and the community. You will support a developmentally based curriculum that meet the needs of children aged 0-5 years, alongside the services philosophy, procedures and policies.

What You'll Achieve:

4. Contribute in the preparation, implementation and reflection of the curriculum cycle for individual and groups of children, with reference to the EYLF and/or developmentally appropriate practice.
5. Contribute to the daily routines, including maximise these opportunities for learning, and support children to actively participate in the curriculum
6. Maintain positive communication with families, children, educators and other hospital staff at all times.
7. Respect children's rights, and engage them in shared decision-making
8. Advocate for the importance of high quality early education in the community

Classification for this position will range from CS16-24

Your Skills and Experience:

9. A working understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and the application of this document in practice.
10. Demonstrated experience in assisting in the planning, implementation and reflection of the curriculum cycle.
11. A working understanding of the National Quality Standards, Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations 2011, and Code of Ethics
12. A demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with children and families, as well as an ability to work with families sensitively and in a culturally competent manner
13. The ability to work as part of a team, cooperatively and flexibly

About the Department:

The Royal Children's Hospital Early Learning is registered for 159 equivalent full time children between 6 weeks and 5 years of age. Places are allocated to the Royal Children's Hospital employees, whilst our Kindergarten is open to the wider community. We are an 'Exceeding' accredited service, utilising hospital and community resources within the City of Melbourne.
