Coating Technician – Interior Wall Paints

About the Role
The Portfolio Development section is part of our R&D department within the SBU Architectural Coatings (AC) EMEA. Based in Amsterdam, our team of 7 technicians focuses on developing and maintaining solvent-based and water-based paints for wood and wall applications. We cater to both the professional (Trade) and the DIY market, working closely with the CoE Wood and CoE Wallpaints departments.
We are looking for a Coating Technician to join our team, primarily focusing on the development of interior wall paints. You will be involved in producing and testing your own samples, optimizing formulations, and suggesting improvements. This role will initially be offered on a 1-year contract, with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities
* Get acquainted with our product portfolio and collaborate with internal departments.
* Produce paint formulations on a lab scale according to requirements.
* Perform tests on formulations based on a detailed test plan.
* Optimize existing product formulations.
* Share your ideas for improving our current portfolio.
* Support projects to enhance production techniques while maintaining our high-quality standards.
* Report to the assigned project leader.
Your Profile
* A relevant educational background, such as R&D formulation or a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (HBO).
* Experience in formulation within the chemical industry, gained through internships or previous roles is a plus.
* Innovative thinking and an interest in state-of-the-art coating technologies.
* Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
* Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
* A practical, results-oriented, can-do attitude.
