About The Role
We are seeking a Senior Manager or Director with significant GST expertise to join our Indirect Tax team in Perth, working directly under the guidance of a new partner. In this role, you will collaborate within a multidisciplinary group of tax professionals who possess outstanding technical and industry knowledge. This position offers a unique opportunity to help shape and grow the Indirect Tax practice from the ground up, advance your career in GST/indirect taxes, and develop a diverse set of skills while delivering solutions to clients.
Candidates with experience in fuel tax and/or state taxes will also have the opportunity to further develop this area of specialisation as part of the expanding team.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
* Provide consulting, governance and compliance services across a range of GST matters
* Act as a primary point of contact for key clients - maintaining and developing relationships with existing clients and being able to identify opportunities to add value
* Managing client relationships and deliverables
* Liaison with Tax Authorities, including with respect to GST combined and streamlined assurance reviews
* Working collaboratively with the tax team and providing thought leadership and identifying client needs across the BDO business
* Developing new client relationships and identifying opportunities to acquire new work
* Assist with training and development of the indirect tax team and other adjacent tax teams
* Contributing to business development initiatives to assist in driving the growth of BDO's indirect tax practice in Western Australia and beyond
About You
* 6+ years' experience in GST
* Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business or Law
* Demonstrated experience working in a Professional Services, Legal firm or the ATO
* Excellent client advisory and communication skills
* Demonstrated experience working collaboratively as part of a team
* Ability to lead and mentor junior staff
* Australian/NZ Citizenship, Australian/NZ Permanent Residency, or fulltime working rights
* Demonstrated experience of working on GST governance and tax technology implementation engagements would be highly valued
