Senior Lawyer

Join a part-time (0.6 FTE) senior lawyer position within our award-winning, technology-driven in-house legal team. We deliver human-centred, accessible legal services across health, regulatory, and commercial matters.
About The Role
We're seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer to support the delivery of legal services for Grampians Health. The role requires a commercial focus and involves drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, as well as a broad range of other legal duties across health law, litigation, privacy, freedom of information, research, reporting obligations, consent to treatment, aged care, family law, children's law, corporate governance, regulatory issues, intellectual property, leases, insurance, statutory interpretation, probity and procurement, and policy development.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review and negotiate contracts and commercial matters.
Assist with core legal service areas as needed, including health law, litigation, privacy, freedom of information, research and reporting obligations.
Handle consent to treatment, aged care, family and children's law issues relevant to Grampians Health functions.
Address corporate governance, regulatory issues, intellectual property and leases of real property.
Provide support on insurance, statutory interpretation, probity and procurement, and policies and procedures.
Key Attributes
Confident and experienced senior lawyer, able to work autonomously on commercial matters or with minimal support on other departmental issues.
Friendly and approachable, committed to practical stakeholder-focused legal advice.
Adaptable to rapidly changing priorities.
Willing to upskill and develop in other areas of law arising in public health legal practice.
Open-minded about new approaches to in-house law such as plain-language contracts, automation and technology.
Desire to support the development of junior team members.
