Job Description: Entertainment Editor, PEDESTRIAN.TV
Location: Sydney / Melbourne
Employment Type: Full-time
About Us
PEDESTRIAN.TV is Australia's largest youth-focused publisher. We're the spicy corner of the internet that lives and breathes pop culture, eats chaos for breakfast, and is pathologically obsessed with everything from the bin fire that is Married At First Sight to the latest celebrity drama lighting up TikTok. We don't just report on the conversation; we start it.
About The Role
We're on the hunt for a pop culture-obsessed mastermind to lead our entertainment coverage as our next Entertainment Editor. This isn't just about knowing who's who; it's about understanding why our audience cares. You'll be the driving force behind our celebrity, reality TV, and film & TV content, shaping the daily conversation for millions of young Aussies. You're the person whose group chat is always popping off with the latest tea, and you're ready to bring that energy to our site.
What You'll Be Doing (The Fun Stuff):
* Set the Agenda: Own and drive the entertainment vertical for PEDESTRIAN.TV, deciding our editorial coverage across celebrity news, reality TV (local and international), buzzy new films, and the TV shows everyone is mainlining.
* Get The Scoop: Strategise, plan, and execute A+ content around key celebrity access opportunities. You'll be our go-to for junkets, red carpets, and exclusive interviews, knowing exactly how to get the content that cuts through.
* Be A Data Nerd: Dive deep into the analytics to see what's popping off and what's flopping. You'll use this data to report on how our entertainment coverage is performing and, more importantly, to inform our strategy so we're always one step ahead.
* Be The Star: Get on the tools daily, smashing out sharp, funny, and insightful written articles. But you won't just be behind the keyboard—you'll be the face of our entertainment coverage, comfortable jumping in front of the camera for TikToks, interviews, and video recaps.
* Plan and Pivot: Meticulously forward-plan our content for massive cultural moments (hello, MAFS and Love Island), while having the chaotic reflexes to jump on breaking news and viral trends the second they happen.
* Build The Team: Commission brilliant and on-brand entertainment content from our network of freelance writers to expand our voice and coverage.
About You (The Legend We're Looking For):
* You have proven experience as an Entertainment Editor or a Senior Writer who is ready to take the next step.
* Your knowledge of pop culture is encyclopaedic and, frankly, a little terrifying. You live and breathe reality TV, you know the celebrity couples, the feuds, and the weird indie film everyone will be talking about in six months.
* You're a killer writer with a distinct, hilarious, and engaging voice that perfectly matches the PEDESTRIAN.TV tone. Formality? We don't know her.
* You understand the numbers and have experience using analytics (e.g., Google Analytics, Parsley) to make informed editorial decisions.
* You're charismatic and confident on camera and keen to build your profile as an entertainment expert.
* You're extremely online. You know what's trending on TikTok, X, and Instagram before the algorithm even does.
* You're a team player bursting with ideas, with an ability to work autonomously and manage multiple chaotic deadlines at once.
* A black book of industry contacts (PRs, publicists, network talent) is a massive plus.
If you don't fit every single one of these points, then we still encourage you to apply. What's more important is the right attitude and willingness to learn fast on the job.
The role is a full-time position and is based out of Pedestrian Group's offices in either Sydney and Melbourne.
Why PEDESTRIAN.TV
We like to think we're a pretty good place to work, particularly for young journos looking to break into the media industry. Some of the perks include:
* Access to Nine training (we're wholly owned by Nine Entertainment Group, FYI), as well as the chance to learn from some of the best young journos, writers and content creators in the biz.
* Half day Fridays once a month.
* The option to WFH 2x days per week.
* A supportive, no silly questions, all ideas are good ideas type of workplace. If you want to make something happen, we'll figure out how to get you there.
* A kitchen overflowing with snacks and Coke Zeros, and an office manager very open to snack requests (especially for our Diet Coke fans).
* An open door company culture. We're all about honesty, not secrets.
* Regular pub drinks, run clubs, dress up days, and more. Not to sound too like a 2010s start up, but yes, we do have ping pong and Foosball tables, and yes, they're pretty good.
* An office teeming with some of the most creative people you'll ever meet.
* Also, a dog friendly office. We're not saying that a cute dog will get you hired, but we're not not saying that, either. (For HR reasons, this is a joke.)
If you're keen to join us, send us the following:
* A cover letter written in your best understanding of P.TV's trademark conversational tone. Give it a crack We want to hear from you, not what ChatGPT told you to write in a cover letter.
* Your CV (feel free to get creative)
* Relevant examples of your work (including written and video content where relevant)
We can't wait to meet you
