The Company
Racecourse Projects is a large scale established sugar cane company based in the Mackay region, farming over 5,000 ha of cane land, delivering cane to Mackay Sugar and Wilmar Sugar.
The company undertakes its own harvesting, operating three harvesting groups, with two of these exceeding 100,000 tonnes of cane.
We have opportunities for Harvester Operators to join the team on a full-time or seasonal contract basis.
Positions are available at our Blue Mountain, Marwood and Clairview operations. Accommodation (single-quarter) may be available.
The Role
You will be a key part of the operations team harvesting over 100,000 tonnes of sugar cane per annum, operating a late model John Deere cane harvester.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate sugar cane harvester and related machinery safely and efficiently
* Basic maintenance and breakdown diagnosis, repair or referral for repairs and maintenance for all plant and equipment
* Ensure all work practices are conducted in a safe manner in line with relevant legislative requirements
* Ensure maintenance history for plant and equipment is recorded, relevant records and reports are delivered to the Maintenance Coordinator
* Additionally, you may be required to conduct other duties as required
The experience we’re looking for
* Previous experience operating cane harvester, or broad acre harvesting or silage chopper experience keen to learn something new
* Basic mechanical knowledge or relevant experience with large, agricultural diesel machinery preferred
* Minimum of Queensland C class driver’s licence
