Your key responsibilities
You will be required to fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service values.
Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Effectively prioritise workloads to assist the laboratory to meet Pathology Queensland Turn Around Time targets
Responding to queries from clients regarding tests, turn-around-times, specimen types, sample volume requirements and more
Maintenance of a safe working environment by the cleaning of work benches, equipment and sinks within the laboratory
Comply with documented processes for clinical assistant staff working in the specimen reception and other areas of the laboratory in accordance with the ISO 15189 standard
Participate in continuing education and competency programmes for CSR
Participate in any day, evening or overnight shifts including working weekdays, weekends and public holidays
Work additional hours or overtime as required to ensure timely specimen processing during peak workloads
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
Availability to work all shifts on the 24/7 CSR roster in a relieving role
An established history of positive team work, respectful behaviour and above average attendance and punctuality
Ability to comply with controlled documentation and to work conscientiously and accurately with mínimal local supervision
Well-developed communication skills both written and verbal and the demonstrated ability to work positively and respectfully with clients, colleagues, vendors and service providers
A working knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn, all aspects of pre-analytical specimen processing and inventory control.
Computer skills, data/request entry skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office, and the ability to use or to quickly learn a Laboratory Information System such as Auslab and an integrated electronic Medical Record system
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
Mandatory qualifications - Nil required
While not mandatory, a Certificate III in Pathology Assistance or higher would be well regarded
