We are seeking a Senior Bookkeeper with construction industry experience and strong proficiency in Jobpac to manage the organisation's day-to-day financial operations. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, supporting project cost tracking, and ensuring compliance with Australian financial and regulatory requirements within a construction environment.
The Senior Bookkeeper oversees accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, bank and credit card reconciliations, and the maintenance of the general ledger. The role also supports month-end and year-end reporting, prepares Business Activity Statements (BAS), and provides management reporting while liaising with external accountants.
Working extensively in Jobpac, the position ensures accurate job costing, project cost tracking, subcontractor payments, and reliable financial data management across projects.
A strong understanding of QBCC requirements is essential, as the role is responsible for maintaining Retention Trust Accounts (RTA) and Project Trust Accounts (PTA) and preparing all associated compliance reporting.
Candidates must possess 3-5 years of experience in QBCC trust account management to effectively handle the advanced expertise required for this position.
You will report directly to the Directors.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
* Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
* Prepare BAS and assist with compliance requirements
* Maintain the general ledger and financial records
* Manage job costing and project cost tracking
* Maintain QBCC trust account compliance, including RTA and PTA
* Ensure accurate QBCC trust accounting reporting
* Liaise with management and external accountants
Education & Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
* Minimum 5 years' experience in an accounting role, preferably within the construction industry
* Jobpac experience is essential
* Intermediate level proficiency in Jobpac software is required for this position
* Demonstrated experience maintaining QBCC RTA and PTA Trust Accounts and preparing associated reporting
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software
