About the Role

In this newly created role, you will have responsibility for supporting the delivery of our Energy Transition Pipeline which is set to Lead the Energy Transition for all Australians with an ambition to add up to 12 GW of new generation and firming by the end of 2035, requiring a total investment of up to $20 billion.
Internally referred to as the Procurement Manager - Energy Hubs, you will be an experienced procurement professional, who can influence inside and outside of procurement teams, with the ability to interact and challenge at senior management level. You will have a strategic mindset and understand the strategic drivers and how to link to goals and performance. You will have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, and a demonstrated capacity to develop viable business cases.
You will provide dynamic procurement leadership in delivery of commercial outcomes across AGL, including taking the lead in negotiation strategy whilst ensuring governance across supplier activity. In addition, the role will be the procurement business partner for designated and complex Energy Hub projects pipeline. Over the past five months we've increased the size of our development pipeline by 60 percent from 3.2 GW to 5.3 GW. This pipeline includes the 250 MW Torrens Island Battery and the 50 MW Broken Hill battery.
What you'll be doing:
Reporting to the Head of Strategic Procurement, you will:
- Partner with the Energy Hub Leadership Teams to contribute to the development of business cases and support growth initiatives for the Energy Hub pipeline to achieve optimal commercial and procurement outcomes.
- Development and approval of procurement plans aligned to the relevant Major Energy Projects, including business and stakeholder requirements of AGL, working in collaboration with stakeholders to agreed ways of working to ensure an effective use of procurement resourcing.
- Delivery of procurement plans for the relevant Major Energy Projects and subsequent approval of identified benefits that contribute to the cost reduction targets of AGL.
- Executing sourcing activity within the requirements of the Project timelines, ensuring GMs and EGMs and stakeholders are informed on key milestone activities for Major Energy Projects
- Leading negotiations with suppliers to achieve the required benefit and risk outcomes.
- Managing dispute resolution when required to ensure exposure to AGL is minimized.
- Completing periodic reporting including progress to procurement plan deliverables, business improvement requirements, and the Finance team requirements
About You
What you'll bring to the table:
- Significant demonstrated procurement experience post qualification, including time in senior leadership roles in large complex organisations.
- Experience delivering Major Energy Projects withing large-scale matrix organisations.
- Strong understanding of risk management
- Ability to interact and challenge at all levels in the organisation.
- Understanding of strategic drivers and how to link to goals and performance in the business.
- Tertiary qualifications associated with Engineering, Commerce, Business or Law is preferred, with additional qualifications highly valued.
- MCIPS and/or six sigma qualification (desirable)
