About Us
At Eric Jones Stairbuilding, we are an Australian family-owned business which has been leading the Victorian staircase manufacturing industry since 1947.
We are a recognised Registered Building Practitioner that specialises in architecturally designed steel stairs and balustrading in the commercial and residential building sector.
About the Opportunity
We are looking for a highly self-motivated experienced Steel Stair Foreman who can oversee our steel workshop in Blackburn, on site installation work, and has the ability drive quality workmanship and productivity in a protected work environment.
This position will suit a person with a background in the construction industry and a skillset in metalwork – fabrication/onsite. You will be a highly organised operator who can handle pressure, coordinate resources, meet budgets and gets the job done on time!
What we are looking for
- Ideally you will have worked in a similar role with numerous years of experience. Demonstrate proficiency in MIG and TIG welding techniques, lending expertise to project execution
- Proven experience in scheduling and coordinating multiple jobs on site
- Experience in steel stairbuilding would be highly regarded
- The ability to manage and lead a team with dynamic skills and personalities (up to 12 staff)
- Ability to troubleshoot and be proactive to overcome challenges and barriers
- Highly developed communication and client relationship management skills
- Strong commitment to quality and safety
- Be highly organised, self-motivated, with a strong desire to lead and achieve results
- A great work ethic
- Ability to provide feedback to both team and to management for continued business improvement
The Role will involve
- Efficiently schedule and coordinate all stair works/jobs, optimizing timelines and resources
- Oversee and lead a team of tradespeople, trade-assistants, and sub-contractors on site and in workshop
- Manage the budget and costs of all jobs
- Uphold high-quality standards throughout all stages of stair fabrication and installation
- Develop, maintain and grow existing relationships with all stakeholders by providing effective and timely communication and offering problem solving ideas to overcome obstacles
- Champion safety protocols, fostering a culture of adherence and continuous improvement
- Monitor divisional administration including approval of time sheets, invoicing, and ordering of materials
- Provide hands-on training and guidance to staff, cultivating a team of proficient professionals
