We are seeking an experienced Drafting Team Leader / Manager to lead, mentor, and develop our drafting team while working closely with engineering staff to deliver high-quality design outcomes.
About the Role
This is a senior drafting role with technical, leadership, and coordination responsibility. You will oversee the day-to-day operation of the drafting function, manage workloads and priorities, and ensure drafting outputs meet project, client, and regulatory requirements.
The role suits someone who enjoys leading people, improving systems, and being hands-on when required.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Lead and manage the drafting team, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and performance support
* Coordinate drafting workloads, resourcing, and deadlines across multiple projects
* Review and approve drafting outputs to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance
* Work closely with engineers to interpret designs, specifications, and project requirements
* Develop and maintain drafting standards, templates, and workflows
* Support continuous improvement across drafting processes and systems
* Provide hands-on drafting and design work
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to project planning and delivery
About You
This role will suit someone with strong technical foundations and proven leadership capability. To be successful in this role, you will bring:
* Advanced AutoCAD experience
* Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring drafters (formally or informally)
* Strong understanding of drafting standards, documentation control, and quality assurance
* Ability to interpret project specifications, drawings, and single line diagrams
Desirable:
* Electrical distribution, transmission and/or building services experience
* Trade qualification or Associate Diploma (or equivalent experience)
* Experience with PLS-CADD, Perfect Lite, PowerCad, ETAP, LV Drop, CYME
* Energex and/or Ergon Energy design experience
* Strong working knowledge of Australian Standards
* Street and public lighting design experience
