Livestock Operations Officer

Are you passionate about livestock and committed to animal welfare? We are looking for a dedicated Livestock Operations Officer to support the smooth and safe operation of our livestock exchange.Key Responsibilities - Handle cattle and/or sheep safely and humanely in line with industry's best practices. - Assist with sale day preparations, including yard setup and managing access for buyers and vendors. - Maintain cleanliness and biosecurity across pens, raceways, and sale areas. - Operate machinery and equipment (e.g. skid steers, pressure washers, weighbridge). - Perform maintenance tasks using tools such as welders, grinders, and saws. - Support humane destruction and disposal of sick or injured livestock when required. - Guide agents, vendors, and buyers in the correct movement and placement of livestock. - Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety policies, including PPE use. - Report hazards, incidents, and equipment faults promptly. - Deliver courteous and professional customer service to agents, transporters, and vendors. - Assist with record keeping and documentation of livestock movements and sales. What you will need - Experience working with livestock in saleyards, farms, or similar environments. - Good communication and record-keeping skills, including basic computer use. - Strong commitment to safety, biosecurity, and animal welfare. - Reliable, punctual, and flexible with working hours (early mornings, evenings, weekends). - Q-Vax Immunisation will be required - Current Driver's licence - Police Check (dated within last six months) What we offer - Hourly rate of $37.73.
