An exciting opportunity exists for an accomplished Group General Manager to lead Penali Cellar Doors located in the heart of the Barossa, South Australia.
Penali Cellar Doors operates four established cellar doors across the Barossa Valley, Coonawarra and Yarra Valley wine regions. Each of our Cellar Doors offer something different, but they all share the same welcoming experience and a premium wine portfolio
We are seeking a highly capable and experienced leader to take accountability for operational performance, customer experience, strategy and growth, team leadership, financial outcomes and marketing.
This is a role for someone who leads from the front and has genuine involvement in the business, who can balance day-to-day operational excellence with long-term growth and is comfortable being present on the floor when required.
Key Responsibilities:
* P & L accountability across all venue operations
* Lead and develop venue leaders, driving accountability and performance
* Revenue optimisation and cost control strategies
* Delivery of high service standards, compliance, and quality assurance
* Budgeting, forecasting, and operational reporting
* Customer experience excellence and reputation management
* Stakeholder engagement with owners, suppliers, and tourism partners
* Delivery of high standards of presentation of the venues
* Set and execute group, strategy and growth plans
* Establish group-wide KPIs and monitor results
* Identify growth opportunities and develop plans to capitalise on these
* Execute brand, digital and social media strategy (earned & paid)
* Drive wine clubs and direct-to-consumer connection programs
* Develop and execute regional and local wine tourism marketing plans
* Recruitment & development of cellar door, restaurant and event teams
* Identify and deliver new revenue streams
About You
* Proven experience as a General Manager with demonstrated ability to meet and exceed KPIs and set/manage venue KPIs/accountability
* Minimum 5-7 years of General Manager experience is required
* Ability to seek out new growth opportunities, cost and quality control, and maximize staff and guest experience
* Strong commercial and financial acumen, with proven experience managing budgets, reporting and driving sustained business growth
* Strong knowledge of computer and operational systems & software applications
* Initiative to maintain and update process, procedures with a focus on continual staff development, change management and venue growth and improvement
* Professional, hands-on structured leadership style with a focus on accountability
* Confident and approachable leader who enjoys developing teams and culture
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Comfortable working a flexible roster
* Genuine passion for hospitality and people

* Deep wine industry knowledge, particularly in premium wine regions
* Hospitality or business qualifications
