About the role
Peabody is currently seeking Underground Mechanical Fitters (Development) to join our Centurion underground mine, located 160 kilometres west of Mackay. Reporting to the Mine Manager, the scope of your new role will include:
* Perform preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on underground mobile equipment.
* Conduct regular equipment inspections to ensure safe, reliable operation.
* Carry out personal risk assessment, hazard identification and other safety requirements relevant to the role.
* Work closely with the shift supervisor and other trades to ensure minimal downtime.
* Work to "Best Practice" techniques to ensure that equipment is maintained to a high safety, productivity and reliability standard.
* Compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
* Participate in site continuous improvement initiatives.

About you
* Trade qualifications.
* Minimum of 3 years in underground coal mining.
* Ability to work effectively in a team, coupled with strong communication skills.
* Operation of underground equipment as required.
* A demonstrated commitment to safety and the ability to work effectively in a team are key requirements of the role.
* Commitment to high performance standards.
In addition to the above, you will have a genuine commitment to safety and demonstrate a sound understanding of risk and hazard identification. You will be an exceptional team member with a flexible attitude and sound work ethic.
