Overview
Your role at St John of God Bunbury Hospital: Clinical Nurse – Ward Coordinator on our 30-bed general acute medical ward (Slaney Ward). The ward offers private and shared accommodation and caters to cardiology, respiratory, renal, haematology, oncology, geriatrics, gastrointestinal and infectious diseases. We foster a family-friendly environment supported by flexible rostering. Our multidisciplinary team includes physicians, a dedicated medical team, allied health professionals, the continuum of care team, experienced nurses and support staff, delivering holistic, patient-centred care.
As a Clinical Nurse, you will assist in the overall clinical management of the unit while supervising staff and delivering comprehensive, high-quality patient care. You will act as shift coordinator, working closely with the Nurse Manager to monitor staffing levels and ensure the appropriate number of skilled staff are available to meet agreed productivity targets and support safe, efficient patient care.
The role is offered on a part-time basis working 28 hours per week.
Responsibilities
* Supervise nursing practice and take responsibility for the standard of nursing care delivered.
* Initiates reviews and coordinates care of patients with complex health problems.
* Serves as a patient advocate, always protecting the rights and safety of patients.
* Actively contributes to the development of clinical policies and procedures in the area of specialty.
* Responsible and accountable for nominated portfolios as designated by Nurse Unit Manager and actively communicate with Nurse Unit Manager regarding updates.
* Participates in and takes responsibility for the education of other caregivers by conducting formal and informal teaching sessions.
* Systematically evaluates actions and documents the outcomes of nursing/medical interventions (including monitoring diagnostic results) and reports significant anomalies promptly.
* Ensures documentation of planned nursing care and holistic care plan remains current and regularly evaluates documentation of the multidisciplinary team to determine their compliance with hospital policy.
* Assists the Nurse Unit Manager with the submission of annual capital budget and business plans relevant to the Department.
* Reviews products and equipment and provides documentation and education on evaluation.
* Assists in developing, implementing and reviewing specific departmental orientation programs with Nurse Unit Manager; acts as a preceptor as required.
* Contributes to planning, problem solving and change management within the Nursing Division throughout the hospital as required.
* Develops and maintains effective relationships with relevant internal and external Key Stakeholders to build and enhance service delivery on a divisional and group-wide basis.
* Monitors and promotes adherence by caregivers to hospital policies, procedures and standards.
Qualifications and requirements
* Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse with significant post-registration experience and the ability to practice at an advanced level.
* Strong leadership ability and ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment; well-developed communication, conflict resolution, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

* Salary: A$109,599 to A$115,682 per annum (pro rata), plus 12% superannuation.
