Job Description
Join a high‐performance newsroom dedicated to delivering fast, accurate, and engaging content that cements 4BC as a trusted source for breaking news. This role is designed for a professional who thrives on capturing the pulse of the city and transforming complex information into compelling stories that resonate with our local audience.
Day to day you will:
* Compile and edit hourly and half‐hourly news bulletins with precision.
* Conduct insightful interviews and gather content from various sources.
* Deliver live news bulletins in a clear, professional, and engaging manner.
* Collaborate with presenters and producers to communicate breaking stories.
* Share high‐quality news content across our national radio network.
* Make independent editorial decisions using sound judgment and critical thinking.
* Work on a rotating five‐day roster, including some weekend and evening shifts.
Qualifications
* A tertiary qualification in journalism, communications, or a related field.
* Prior experience in a broadcast environment with a focus on live reading.
* Exceptional writing skills and a sharp eye for meticulous detail.
* The ability to simplify complex issues into clear, relatable audio stories.
* A strong understanding of Media Law and impartial reporting standards.
* Proven time‐management skills and the ability to thrive under tight deadlines.
* A valid driver's licence and the flexibility to cover local breaking news.
