**THE JOB**

Maylands Hotel boasts an open-plan upper lounge, a chic, cozy library, and a buzzing lower dining area—plenty of unique spaces to host excellent events You'll be the maestro behind the scenes, transforming everything from intimate gatherings to big blowout celebrations into show-stopping events. The **Function and Events Manager** reports to the Venue Manager and works closely with the Head Chefs and Department Managers to execute a positive and memorable customer experience. This role will be responsible for front-of-house staff working across functions and events at the hotel.

As the Functions & Events Manager, you will be the driving force behind the successful planning and execution of a diverse range of functions, including birthdays, wakes, corporate meetings, special events with our suppliers, and everything in between. Your goal will be to deliver experiences that exceed expectations and enhance the reputation of our venue. This role involves coordinating all aspects of events from initial client contact to final execution, ensuring seamless operations and exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities:

- Event Coordination: Meet with clients to understand their needs, provide tailored package options, and ensure all details are meticulously planned and executed.
- Logistics Management: Arrange and coordinate services such as displays, audio-visual equipment, and catering. Create and revise event floor plans and orders.
- Team Leadership: Brief and supervise front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and efficient event execution. Act as the primary point of contact for clients during events.
- Client Relations: Build strong rapport with clients, address their needs promptly, and ensure complete satisfaction before, during, and after events.
- Financial Management: Oversee event budgets, ensure accurate invoicing, and manage departmental expenses.
- Marketing & Promotion: Collaborate with the marketing team to promote events and special offers via social media and other channels.
- Revenue & Strategy: Ability to build on and create new revenue streams, increase business activity and drive engagement, leading to overall business growth.

- Ability to set and maintain service standards through ongoing training and development of front-of-house staff
- Strong decision-making skills relating to staffing, patron comfort and care, and strategic business issues

The non-negotiables:

- Skills and experience in or willingness to learn restaurant and table service are required. Slow weeks in functions and events will require shifts to be completed in the wider F&B team.
- Responsible Service of Alcohol.
- Must live in/near Adelaide and have Australian PR or citizenship status.
