About the Role
As a Welder at GLT, you’ll interpret technical drawings and instructions to fabricate and assemble trailers and components to high-quality standards. You’ll be hands-on in the workshop, working with processes such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding, cutting, grinding, polishing, pressing, and heat treatment in Steel and/or Aluminum. This role plays a key part in ensuring safe, efficient production and timely delivery of trailers that meet company and customer expectations.
In this role, you’ll:
* Read and interpret technical drawings to perform welding and fabrication tasks.
* Carry out welding duties (GMAW, TIG, Stick) along with cutting, grinding, and other fabrication processes on steel and/or aluminium.
* Ensure all work meets quality, specification, and safety requirements.
* Complete documentation accurately, including job cards, build records, and time cards.
* Work collaboratively within a team environment, supporting apprentices and junior employees.
* Promote a strong safety culture by following WHS procedures and reporting hazards or incidents.
* Maintain equipment correctly and only operate machinery with training and competency sign-off.
What We’re Looking For
* Trade qualification or relevant welding/fabrication experience with steel and/or aluminium
* Strong ability to read and work from technical drawings.
* Skilled in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes.
* Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
* A proactive, reliable, and positive approach to your work.
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Experience in trailer manufacturing or heavy vehicle assembly
* Forklift or EWP licence
* Welding or fabrication skills
Physical Requirements
* Ability to lift, carry, bend, and work in confined or awkward spaces.
* Comfortable working in workshop conditions (heat, noise, dust) with PPE provided.
* Competent in using hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely.
