About the Role The Practice and Programs Specialist (PPS) will support the Director and Senior Practice and Programs Specialists, working across practice, training, assurance, and policy development.
The PPS will play a key role in enhancing client outcomes by implementing organisational initiatives, conducting practice reviews, and leading the development, review, and implementation of policies and procedures that support safe, consistent, and high-quality practice across CYF programs.
The role requires a strong ability to translate legislation, service standards, and evidence-based practice into clear, practical policies, procedures, and practice guidance that can be effectively implemented by operational teams.
The PPS will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure policy and procedural frameworks remain current, compliant, and aligned with organisational strategy and practice models.
The PPS will collaborate across CYF programs to identify areas for practice improvement, review the impact of practice changes on existing policy and procedure frameworks, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, service standards, and Life Without Barriers policies and procedures.
This is a full-time, 12-month max-term opportunity and a national position with flexible hybrid working arrangements.
You can work from one of our offices in any state or entirely from home.
While the role is fully virtual, time zone differences should be considered to ensure effective collaboration with the Queensland-based team.
About you This role will have a strong focus on policy and procedure development, so we are seeking someone with excellent written communication skills, capable of producing clear, concise, and well-structured documentation.
We need a self-starter who can hit the ground running, take initiative, and contribute immediately to improving and streamlining our organisational processes.
Key Responsibilities Contribute to the development, review, and continuous improvement of CYF policies, procedures, and practice documentation to ensure alignment with legislation, service standards, and organisational strategy.
Use direct operational experience to review the implications of new practice approaches on existing policy and procedure frameworks and develop revised processes and associated documentation accordingly.
Provide and coordinate coaching, mentoring, workplace learning opportunities, and formal training designed to facilitate the implementation of evidence-based approaches such as CARE and TCI.
Report risks, poor practices, and non-compliance with LWB policies, procedures, and legislation, and collaborate with Senior Practice and Programs Specialists to share resources and ensure consistency of practice across CYF programs.
Provide input into the development of new programs and practice initiatives and translate these into practice.
Support service user participation and engagement with evaluation, design and delivery of LWB services in line with our client engagement and participation framework.
Skills Experience Tertiary qualification in Human Services or Social Sciences.
Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (desirable).
Expert knowledge and experience in the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of client support services in the Child Youth and Family sector.
Ability to demonstrate leadership within own area of expertise.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement processes and systems to improve services.
Demonstrated ability to provide advice, support, coaching, mentoring, and training to managers and staff.
Ability to use initiative and think laterally and strategically.
A sound understanding of the funding arrangements, legislation, and standards of practice that apply to programs and services provided by LWB.
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks, including a National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
