Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Specialist in Small Animal Surgery

* Based at the Roseworthy Campus
* Full-time, continuing position
* Position available as Lecturer (Level B, $111,031 - $131,335 per annum) Senior Lecturer (Level C, $135,388 – $155,696 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies. Published salary ranges for this position are provided as a guide and may be adjusted through the application of salary loadings, subject to university policies and individual qualifications.

Workthat matters

This role plays a critical part in delivering excellence in small animal surgical care while educating and mentoring the next generation of veterinarians. You will contribute directly to high-quality clinical outcomes, student learning, and the University's teaching and research mission within South Australia's only Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

The team

The role is based within the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences and operates primarily from the Small Animal Hospital at the Roseworthy Campus. The successful candidate will join an established Small Animal Surgery service, currently consisting of two surgeons (one board-certified specialist surgeon). The Small Animal Hospital also offers Medical Oncology, Anaesthesia, and General Practice services, along with a 24-hr Emergency clinic. Imaging facilities include on-site computed tomography (CT), digital radiology, and ultrasound.

The School delivers world-class veterinary education and research, supporting industry, community and animal health outcomes across South Australia and beyond.

Qualifications

* Specialist training and/or qualification in Small Animal Surgery or a related discipline (ANZCVS Fellowship or American/European Board Diplomate)

Level B you will need

* Demonstrated excellence in specialist small animal surgical practice within a teaching or referral hospital
* Proven experience teaching and mentoring veterinary students and veterinary technicians in a clinical setting
* Demonstrated ability to contribute to research and supervise clinical research and/or postgraduate students
* Experience managing a specialist surgical service caseload
* Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills with evidence of engagement with professional and industry bodies

Level C you will need

* Demonstrated excellence in specialist small animal surgical practice within a teaching or referral hospital
* Proven experience teaching and mentoring veterinary students and veterinary technicians in a clinical setting
* Demonstrated ability to contribute to or undertake independent research and supervise clinical research and/or postgraduate students
* Experience leading a specialist surgical service caseload
* Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills with evidence of engagement with professional and industry bodies
