Our client is a well established and regarded engineering consultancy, recognized for delivering high-quality development, residential and commercial projects across the east coast. With a strong existing stream of work and continued growth, they are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join their Brisbane team in a design management and project leadership capacity.
This role is ideal for an engineer who has progressed beyond purely hands‑on design and is now focused on overseeing civil design delivery, coordinating teams, and ensuring high‑quality outcomes across urban development projects.
The Role As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will play a key role in the management and delivery of civil design packages across a range of urban development projects, including residential subdivisions, commercial developments, and industrial estates.
You will be involved across the full project life cycle, from concept through to detailed design and construction documentation review, with a strong emphasis on coordinating and guiding design teams. As the senior engineer, you will ensure design outputs are delivered to a high standard, aligned with project requirements, and compliant with relevant Australian Standards and local council guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the delivery of civil design packages for urban development projects
Oversee design work produced by engineers and designers using 12d, including earthworks, road design, and stormwater drainage
Review civil drawings, reports, and technical documentation for accuracy and compliance
Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
Liaise with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes
Assist with tender submissions, proposals, and fee estimates
Mentor and support graduate engineers, designers, and junior staff
Maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
Ensure all designs comply with Australian Standards and relevant council requirements
About You You are a technically strong civil engineer who has transitioned into, or is ready to transition into, a design management and delivery-focused role. You understand civil design principles in detail but are now more focused on coordination, oversight, and project leadership.
What the role requires
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
6–12 years of consultancy experience
Strong background in urban development, subdivision, and drainage projects
Experience overseeing design delivery teams working in 12d
Familiarity with AutoCAD for civil documentation review
Exposure to flood modelling tools such as TUFLOW or HEC‑RAS is highly regarded
Solid understanding of SEQ council standards and Australian Design Standards
Strong communication, coordination, and problem‑solving skills
Ability to manage projects while guiding technical teams
RPEQ registration (or working towards it) is highly desirable
