If you decide to complete your studies through the Defence University Sponsorship program, your fees will be paid for as part of your two-year masters degree, and you’ll walk into a rewarding role as a psychologist after graduation within the Australian Army.As a Psychologist in the Army, your understanding of human behaviour will be highly valued and you will draw on an ever-expanding body of scientific knowledge about how people think, act and feel and then apply that information to the area of military psychology.You will be appointed as an Officer, and work closely with a tight-knit team of professional psychologists across a host of tasks—from assessing candidate suitability for specialised roles in the Army to post-operational screening to psychological assessment and counselling of military personnel.Unlike a job as a civilian psychologist, you will have plenty of opportunities to travel as you may be deployed anywhere in the world to provide psychological services—from combat operations to humanitarian missions. It’s these types of unique military experiences that will increase your knowledge and grow your skills within your chosen profession.Salary:This is your opportunity to be paid a competitive salary as you study for your masters at the university of your choice. Not to mention, you’ll receive other benefits like rental allowance, textbook reimbursement and assistance with your HELP fees.Upon commencing the program, your salary will be between $85,051 plus 16.4% superannuation depending on the completion status of your course.On completion of your degree, initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $103,596 per annum plus generous super.Life in the Army:Action, adventure, exciting career opportunities and amazing mateship—there’s so much to love about life in the Army.
