We are seeking an experienced Safety Officer for a highly regarded Utility and Civil infrastructure company.
This role would suit someone with a strong civil construction background who understands how projects are delivered on the ground and can build strong working relationships through a practical, hands‐on approach.

Responsibilities:
* Supporting day-to-day site safety operations across civil and utility projects.
* Conducting site inspections, audits, field observations, and incident investigations.
* Preparing incident reports, corrective actions, and close‐out documentation.
* Driving workforce engagement, safety awareness, and compliance across operational teams.
* Assisting with development, review, and implementation of SWMS, risk assessments, permits, and project safety documentation.
* Creating and maintaining safety documentation, procedures, project records, and reporting requirements.
* Supporting project teams with practical safety planning and risk management during delivery activities.
* Participating in pre‐starts, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and critical risk reviews.
* Assisting with onboarding, inductions, and continuous improvement initiatives.Working closely with supervisors, operators, subcontractors, and client representatives across both day and night works.
* Supporting compliance with client requirements, ISO management systems, and company safety processes.
* Assisting with management of high‐risk activities including excavation, lifting operations, plant interaction, traffic control, confined spaces, and live services.
Requirements:
* Previous experience in a Safety Officer / Coordinator role within the civil, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
* Local Australian construction experience is essential.
* Strong understanding of builder‐side and self‐perform civil delivery environments.
* Ability to create, write, and manage safety documentation to a professional standard.
* Sound understanding of civil construction risks, underground services, and site‐based safety controls.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively with field crews.
* Relevant WHS qualifications and current White Card.
* Practical, proactive, and team‐oriented approach to safety leadership.
* Ability to work in fast‐paced operational environments with multiple concurrent projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role supporting operational teams across utility, infrastructure, and civil works projects within live and high‐risk environments.
