Role: General Manager/Commercial Manager

$170,000 - 200,000 + Super

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and business-savvy General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations, drive financial performance, and lead our commercial and business development functions. Key Responsibilities
* Lead the company’s commercial, financial, and operational strategy
* Oversee budgets, cash flow, project costing, and financial reporting
* Work closely with the CEO and engineering leads to ensure commercial viability of projects
* Negotiate with customers, suppliers, and partners to maximise ROI
* Oversee business development, marketing, and client engagement
* Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks
* Drive the preparation of financial models, grant applications, and business cases
* Manage external accounting providers and internal financial processes (e.g., payroll, payables)
* Seek out financing opportunities and strategic partnerships
* Foster a high-performing, values-driven team culture
About You
* Proven experience as a General Manager, Commercial Manager, or senior business leader in an engineering, technology, or project-based company
* Strong financial and commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets, contracts, and financial systems
* Strategic thinker with operational execution capability
* Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
* Business development experience with a track record of growth and relationship building
* Degree in business, commerce, engineering, or a related discipline
* Bonus: experience with project financing, HR management, or Xero
