We are currently tendering for works in the Cairns Region and are seeking expressions of interest from experienced professional Environmental Officers / Advisors / Consultants with experience in the road construction / maintenance industry interested in joining us and capable of committing to the following assignment for a period of 1 - 2 years with a possibility of extensions and other projects into the future. Key Responsibilities The provision of timely, efficient, consistent, innovative and compliant environment services to avoid unnecessary delays to construction programs. Managing resources and funds to meet the needs of the program. Ensuring the program achieves compliance with legislation and internal processes while identifying areas for improvement to processes and procedures that could result in better program deliverables. Mandatory Requirements A Degree in Environmental Science / Environmental Engineering or an equivalent qualification; 3-5 years’ relevant industry experience, involving transport infrastructure construction project delivery; Demonstrated experience in desktop and field surveillance and monitoring, data collection, collation and analysis; Planning, conducting and closing out of field audits described in Environmental Management Plans, industry standards, DTMR or Councils statutory obligations; Previous working experience in erosion and sediment control on linear transport infrastructure projects, and be familiar with the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) Best Practice Erosion and Sediment Control and the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection Standard Work Method Statement for the Assessment of Lawful Releases to Waters from Construction Sites; and the ability to liaise, consult and build effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including the community, Government, construction contractors, and other government agencies. The proposed hours range between 36 to 40 hours per week. Some weekend work may be required to suit work load. The roles are Cairns based, however some work away in regional or remote locations may be required depending on requirements. Preference given to someone already living in the region or someone willing to relocate, however, FIFO &/or DIDO will definitely be considered. You must already by living in Australia with the mandatory years of local project experience, have the right to work in Australia, with well-developed interpersonal and consultative skills and a current drivers licence.
