What You'll Be Doing The Director Child Wellbeing leads NSW Health's Child Wellbeing program and services, providing strategic oversight and expert advice to NSW Ministry of Health, Local Health Districts/Speciality Health Networks and to related government and non-government entities. The Director leads, supports and provides operational management to the Child Wellbeing Unit at Sydney Children's Hospitals Network which comprises of the Southern Child Wellbeing Unit team and the Joint Referral Unit for the Joint Child Protection Response Program. The role provides operational management of employees within these services including staff performance, supervision, support and education/training. Through statewide program delivery, clinical practice advice and policy development, the Director contributes to enhanced responses across NSW Health to vulnerable and at-risk children, young people, families and communities. The position reports to the Clinical Stream Director (CSD) Priority Populations. In collaboration with SCHN Violence Abuse and Neglect (VAN) Service Leads and CSD Priority Populations, the Director CCC will contribute to the review of child protection strategic and operational plans to provide integrated and collaborative VAN services within SCHN. This includes ensuring models of service delivery are responsive to client needs, utilisation of evidence-based practice and promoting the development of effective and collaborative working relationships with other departments and agencies. Relevant tertiary qualifications or relevant equivalent work experience in health in conducting, directing and evaluating forensic and/or clinical assessments/services or a combination of study and work experience. Extensive knowledge of and demonstrated expertise in child protection and wellbeing policy and practice, an understanding of the legislative context for child protection intervention and an understanding of related reforms in NSW. In-depth understanding of service delivery functions in relation to child wellbeing and protection within NSW Health and across the human services sector in NSW. Demonstrated expertise in service planning and implementation, policy development and evaluation. High level leadership, corporate governance, independent decision-making, negotiation, relationship and cross organisational management skills including capacity to manage people and resources, develop budgets and business plans. Demonstrated high level strategic analysis, advisory and problem-solving skill. An ability to formulate approaches and developing successful short term and long-term strategies and solutions. Experience in change management on a state-wide basis and ability to act as a catalyst for change and operate in a climate of organisational transformation. 8. Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication, consultation, negotiation and leadership skills necessary to lead with vision, to respond to and resolve complex and critical issues and to maintain collaborative relationships.
