The opportunity
An exciting leadership opportunity has become available within our Compliance Team due to an internal promotion.
As Compliance Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in leading the day-to-day operations of the Compliance Team, while also shaping the strategic direction of compliance activities across Council. This role requires a well-rounded and considered approach to compliance, drawing on a broad range of legislation to address complex matters relating to planning and development, vegetation and biodiversity conservation and environmental operations. Additionally, the Compliance team manages the assessment of Building Information Certificates and Swimming Pool Barrier Inspections.
You will be instrumental in guiding the Compliance unit's strategy and performance, ensuring alignment with Council's broader objectives. Your authentic leadership will foster a high-performing, customer-focused team culture that values collaboration, continuous improvement, and service excellence.

The Compliance Team sits within the Compliance and Development Services section under the Community Futures Directorate of PSC. Within this section you will find yourself surrounded by a passionate team of professionals consisting of Compliance Officers, Environmental Health Officers, Rangers, Development Planners, Building Surveyors and Administration Officers.
The Compliance team love creative problem solving and have a balanced and practical approach inassisting both Council and the Community in addressing critical environmental issues. Should you be successful, you will find yourself leading a team that undertake a combination of field and office work whilst undertaking all functions within the regulatory/investigation space. With the variety of matters that come to the Compliance Team, you won't be bored

* This is a permanent opportunity – working full-time 35 hours / week + access to a flexible working arrangement
* Base Salary Range: $96,545 - $113,853 pa based on 35 hours / week + 11.5% superannuation + $18,619.19 motor vehicle allowance + $2,312 retention allowance
* You will be working from PSC Administration Building, Raymond Terrace

* Degree qualifications in Town Planning, Building Surveying, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Criminology or a related discipline, combined with extensive experience in the field.
* Demonstrated experience in a Compliance or Investigatory role.
* Developed knowledge and experience with relevant legislation (particularly Local Government Act 1993, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Swimming Pools Act 1992, Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 and Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997).
