Why This Role Matters

The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia's largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.

About The Role

As a Youth Case Manager, you will support young people experiencing challenges with alcohol and other drug (AOD) use, guiding them through their recovery journey. Your support will be delivered through effective case management and close collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic and tailored care.

You'll be working in a trauma-informed and psychologically aware environment, where creative, client-centred approaches are encouraged to ensure the diverse support needs of young people are met as a top priority.

This position is reporting to the Youth AOD Coordinator and as is offering full time hours based in Garbutt, Townsville.

How You Will Make An Impact

In this role, you will:
* Deliver comprehensive case management support to young people and young families dealing with problematic alcohol and substance use, including assessment, referral, and advocacy.
* Build and maintain strong knowledge of current AOD trends, interventions, and best practices.
* Collaborate effectively with external agencies and professionals to deliver integrated and effective care.
* Support clients in strengthening or rebuilding positive family and community connections.
* Maintain accurate, client-focused case documentation—developing and regularly updating case plans in partnership with clients and colleagues.

What You Will Bring
* A degree in Social Work, Youth Work, or a related field, or a minimum Diploma-level qualification in Community or Youth Services (or similar discipline), along with relevant sector experience.
* Proven experience in case management with individuals facing complex or disadvantaged circumstances.
* Strong understanding of trauma, mental health, and the emotional development of young people.
* Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations and awareness of varied religious and cultural practices.
* A current Driver's Licence.
* A valid Working with Children Check.
* A current First Aid certificate (or the ability to obtain one promptly).
