Do you have a trade qualification and/or workshop experience and a desire to build a better work/life balance?
The Caravan Hub in Townsville is looking for trade-qualified techs or experienced handypeople interested in applying their skills in a new industry.
Trades with transferable skillsets include glaziers, roofers, carpenters, cabinet makers, metal workers, electricians and refrigeration mechanics – but if you're handy on the tools and like problem-solving, we want to talk to you.
Caravan repair work includes:
* Methodical problem solving
* Working to a job card
* Taking photos of your job progress as you work
* Removing and refitting accessories, which requires careful handling and a neat finish with silicone.
* Removing and replacing fixtures including windows, doors, hatches, solar panels, antennas etc.
* Basic plumbing and low-pressure repair and maintenance on plumbing fittings
* Learning and understanding how caravans are put together, so you can troubleshoot problems with 12V power, water and leaks.
* An excellent eye for detail – you need to be able to go into a van, identify the problem, repair it and then clean up after yourself, including gathering up offcuts, cleaning up swarf and sawdust, picking up your tools and wiping up greasy marks.
