The opportunity
Downer's Energy & Utilities business is seeking a Strategy Advisor to play a pivotal role in shaping long-term growth and investment decisions across Australia and New Zealand.
Reporting to the General Manager – Strategy, this role sits at the heart of the business, partnering with senior leaders across Water, Energy Networks, Telecommunications, Power Transmission & Storage and Industrials. You will provide deep financial, commercial and market insight to support M&A activity, strategic planning and sector positioning in a complex, ASX-listed environment.
This is a high-impact role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with executives, influencing decisions, and delivering strategic outcomes that directly shape the future of the business.
What you'll do
* Build financial models, valuations and conduct due diligence to support M&A and strategic investments
* Analyse market, industry and competitor trends to identify growth opportunities and risks
* Partner with EGMs, GMs and senior leaders to develop sector strategies and market factbooks
* Prepare high-quality executive reports, presentations and board papers
* Provide economic and sector insights to inform medium and long-term strategic planning

What we're looking for
* Strong financial modelling, valuation and commercial analysis capability
* Experience in strategy, management consulting, M&A, investment banking or similar
* Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* A proactive, self-driven approach with strong stakeholder engagement skills
* Minimum 3+ years' experience in a similar role
