Supportive, Down-to-Earth Team – Work alongside passionate, hard-working people who back each other and celebrate the wins together.
Be Part of Something Bigger – Contribute to one of Queensland's leading market networks, with opportunities to grow your skills and career across events, placemaking and community engagement.
How you'll make an impact
As the Market Manager, you'll be the driving force behind one of the Gold Coasts most loved weekly markets. This is a hands-on, people-first leadership role for someone who thrives in evolving environments and enjoys building genuine connections with both vendors and the community. If you're currently in hospitality, events, or a customer-focused role and looking for your next career step with more ownership, flexibility, and impact — this could be it.
In this role, you will
* Oversee all aspects of market operations, including site setup, stallholder arrivals and allocations, customer flow, safety, and end-of-day bump-out — ensuring the entire day runs smoothly and professionally.
* Lead and support a small on-site team, providing clear guidance, troubleshooting issues in real-time, and fostering a proactive, solutions-focused work culture.
* Coordinate stallholder applications, weekly allocations, and market layouts, ensuring a well-balanced site plan and vendor mix that supports business success and customer satisfaction.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with over 100 stallholders, acting as their key contact and champion for feedback, support, and long-term engagement.
* Manage key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local businesses, council representatives, site partners, and suppliers — ensuring smooth collaboration and open communication at all times.
* Deliver exceptional customer service to both vendors and the public, representing the market brand with professionalism and a welcoming approach.
* Work closely with our internal marketing team, contributing ideas, vendor stories, and community highlights to promote the market through social media and campaigns.
* Support the planning and delivery of seasonal and twilight events, working in collaboration with our events and operations teams to manage logistics and onsite coordination.
* Complete essential administrative tasks throughout the week, including market planning, reporting, emails, and scheduling — with the flexibility to work remotely or from our Fortitude Valley office.
* Note: The role requires early starts on Sundays and physical presence on site for approximately 10 hours on market day.
The Ideal Candidate
* Is comfortable with early starts, enjoys working outdoors, and is physically fit for a fast-paced, active role.
* Is a natural people-person who genuinely enjoys interacting with diverse individuals — stallholders, customers, team members, and stakeholders.
* Brings confidence, honesty, and common sense, with a calm and positive presence when things get busy.
* Is highly organised, detail-oriented, and quick to take action — problem-solving is a huge part of this role.
* Can juggle stallholder requests, resolve on-the-spot issues, and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
* Is confident in customer service, and also comfortable managing emails, phone calls, and allocations during the week.
* Doesn't mind a bit of physical work and thrives in an ever-changing environment where no two days (or Sundays) are the same.
* Appreciates a vibrant lifestyle and probably already has a few favourite local markets of their own.
Skills & Experience
* 2+ years in a leadership or management role, ideally in events, hospitality, retail, or venue operations
* Strong customer service experience. This role will involve taking calls and assisting our customers with a varied range of questions
* Ability to identify problems and seek fast solutions
* Computer literacy is required, including database management
What We Offer
* $85k + Superannuation + KPI (based on 30 - 35 hours work week)
* Weekly performance based KPIs
* Flexibility with a mix of remote work and 1 day a week onsite at the market
* A respected and rewarding career with one of Queensland's leading event operators
* Genuine career progression opportunities for the right candidate
