Add expected salary to your profile for insights Axis Hire are currently looking for a Head of Business Development to join our team.
Axis Hire provide a wide range of heavy equipment, vehicle hire, and ancillary onsite services in the mining, civil, and construction sectors through Australia.
The provision of our diverse range of fit for purpose equipment (400 individual assets) is further supported by providing maintenance services for the hired fleet to strengthen the business of our customers.
The Axis Hire business is based in WA and spread throughout various regions (the Pilbara, Midwest, Southwest) and is supported from a small corporate office in Perth, with the company's main base being in Bunbury where we have purpose-built maintenance facilities that are used to facilitate equipment inspection, repair, and rebuilds, with support from a small corporate office in Perth.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Head of Business Development will be responsible for playing a senior role in identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities, while also nurturing existing client relationships to ensure continued satisfaction and service excellence.
This role will play an important part in managing customer relationships to retain our current client base whilst also delivering revenue growth for Axis Hire's core offerings, including equipment rental/hire in the mining, civil, and construction sectors, and the provision of support services to clients in the maintenance labour and services for hire market.
Key Responsibilities Play a senior role in developing and implementing growth strategies, building strong relationships with customers, and leading our sales and marketing team members to achieve targets and drive business success.
Proactively identify and develop equipment rental/hire business opportunities within the mining, civil, construction sectors, and maintenance labour and services for hire market.
Lead the end-to-end sales process including market research, generation of leads, opportunity qualification, provision of quotes, proposal development, presentations, and negotiations.
Respond to tenders, EOIs, and RFPs, ensuring high-quality submissions that align with client needs and Axis Hire's service capabilities.
Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and report processes using CRM system techniques.
Implement strategies that help to generate effective marketing campaigns to expand the company's customer base, market awareness and presence.
About You The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don't tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role.

Proven track record of achieving business growth targets through developing a durable, but flexible prospect pipeline while implementing sound client pursuit strategies that position the business for sustained success.
Demonstrated record of exceeding sales / revenue targets and securing high level deals.
Strong understanding and existing network exposure to equipment rental/hire business development practices in the mining, civil, and construction sectors is advantageous but not essential.
Sound commercial acumen, familiarity with tendering processes and ability to build, present and negotiate financially sound proposals.
Persuasive, engaging and charismatic outcome driven demeanour who enjoys working in a self-motivated, accountable and autonomous decision-making environment.
Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with fellow team members, direct reports, business associates and clients.
Intermediate to advanced computer literacy skills (MS Office suite) and proficient with maintaining client pipelines, customer contact registers and CRM tools.
Ability to travel to remote sites, client offices and attend industry events, conferences and site tender meetings as required.
