SkillQuest Solutions are seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic on behalf of our client who runs a busy and well-established automotive workshop, located in Wendouree, Victoria.

Position - Motor Mechanic
Location – Wendouree, Victoria
Salary - $76,000 - $85,000 plus superannuation per annum
Employment Type - Full-time, Permanent
THE ROLE:
We are looking for a Motor Mechanic who is highly skilled and takes pride in their work. You must be reliable and committed to delivering exceptional service. Key responsibilities include:
· Provide high-quality servicing and mechanical repairs for a range of vehicles, including routine maintenance and more complex repairs.
· Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using advanced diagnostic equipment to identify issues impacting vehicle safety, performance, and drivability.
· Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake inspections, fluid checks and replacements, and battery testing to ensure ongoing vehicle reliability.
· Repair and replace faulty or worn mechanical parts, including suspension, braking, steering, and exhaust, to restore vehicles to roadworthy condition.
· Perform complex mechanical work where required, such as engine repairs, transmission servicing, and steering system adjustments.
· Test, calibrate, and fine-tune mechanical systems to confirm safe performance and compliance with standards.
· Conduct vehicle inspections to provide comprehensive assessments of necessary mechanical repairs and confirm roadworthiness certification where applicable.
· Assist in evaluating and road-testing customers' vehicles to confirm repairs are effective.
· Adhere strictly to occupational health and safety (OHS) standards, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe workshop practices, and proper disposal of hazardous materials, to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
· Provide excellent customer service at all times, maintaining high standards of professionalism and workmanship.
· Communicate effectively with customers to ensure they understand their vehicle's needs.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
· Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis (or agreed equivalent).
· Minimum of 4 years (preferably more) post training experience in a similar role.
· Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills.
· Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
· Knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, and electrical components.
· Able to work independently and as part of a team.
· Reliable, with great time management skills.
· Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients about their vehicle needs.
· Current Australian driver's licence - ESSENTIAL.
· You must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.
