Overview
This is a permanent full-time position with an annual salary of $81,461 per annum + 12% superannuation. The hours are 6am – 2pm, Monday to Friday, located at Stonnington Depot, 293 Tooronga Road, Malvern. The Street Cleaning Driver Labourer is responsible for operating street cleaning equipment to provide a high-quality street cleaning service to the City of Stonnington and for contributing to a safe community and positive environmental impacts. Maintain the high-profile image presented to residents and the general public and meet Council's expectations.
Responsibilities
* Follow the daily schedule and complete all tasks within the service level agreements.
* Operate large, medium and small street sweeper vehicles effectively and efficiently.
* Communicate with the Supervisor/Team Leader and report any incomplete work.
* Communicate effectively internally and work as a cooperative team member.
* Wear appropriate safety and protective equipment, including sunscreen, and perform work safely to avoid risks to yourself or others.
* Perform manual handling tasks such as lifting, digging, raking, sweeping, and using mechanical tools.
* Maintain the quality and timeliness of work on streets, laneways and drains within the municipality.
* Ensure the vehicle is maintained in good condition and report any defects; log them in the vehicle log book.
* Clean and maintain the vehicle and follow plant maintenance and reporting procedures.
* Maintain security and correct operation of assets, equipment, and materials under the employee's control.
* Maintain good relations with the public, other Council departments, tradesmen and service authorities and promote a positive image of Waste Management Services.
Responsibilities (continued) and Work Environment
* Ensure targets are met within an adequate timeframe and adapt as needed.
* Current driver's license and current Medium Ridged Licence (MR) are required (or equivalents as applicable).
Qualifications and Skills
* Knowledge of and ability to operate street cleaning plant and equipment.
* Knowledge of safe manual handling techniques and occupational health and safety.
* Basic knowledge and use of hand tools.
* Time management, planning and organisational skills to achieve objectives.
* Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively with management, staff and customers and contribute to a positive team environment.
* Ability to physically perform the work; flexible to meet targets.
* Current driver's license and current Medium Rigid Licence required.
* Ability to follow OHS policies and procedures.
