Job Description
The IS Mechanical Designer I will design mechanical systems, components, or assemblies using engineering principles.
Responsibilities:
* Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to create unique high-level concepts and designs for all assigned projects.
* Collaborate with the team to ensure the successful execution of goals of all assigned projects.
* Conduct field surveys to identify existing equipment types and system capabilities.
* Produce design documents including drawings, system flow diagrams and architecture, wiring diagrams, construction details, and equipment scheduling.
* Deliver concepts and designs according to strict project deadlines.
* Contribute to all areas of the creative process and department.
* Perform work under direct supervision.
* Handle basic issues and problems and refer more complex issues to higher-level staff.
* Assist with the development of technical reports or related documents.
* Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
* An associate degree in HVAC Technology, Building Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
* 1-2 years' experience with building construction, especially mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or automatic temperature controls.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT.
* Strong technical skills.
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
* Vision and creativity.
* Ability to meet deadlines.
* Planning skills.
* Possesses beginning to working knowledge of the subject matter.
* Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications
* A bachelor of science in engineering degree.
* Building automation system design and sequence writing experience – Preferred systems include Siemens, JCI, Honeywell, Trane, Struxureware, and Tridium.
* HVAC design and commissioning experience – Preferred systems include Chilled Water, Heating Water, Condenser Water, and Steam.
* Higher education and healthcare design experience.
Travel Requirements
10-25% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
