Three-year opportunity

Shape Australia’s future as a digitally enabled, data-informed regulator

As Australia’s corporate, markets and financial services regulator, ASIC plays a critical role in maintaining trust, integrity and confidence in the financial system. Digital capability, trusted data, cyber resilience and modern platforms are central to how we detect harm, supervise markets and serve the Australian community.

We are seeking an outstanding Executive Director, Digital, Data & Technology (DD&T) to lead this agenda at enterprise scale. It is a rare opportunity to deliver a whole-of-organisation digital, data and technology strategy that directly underpins regulatory outcomes, public trust and national economic wellbeing.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and operating as a member of ASIC’s Executive Committee, you will lead a diverse, highly skilled group responsible for ASIC’s end-to-end digital, data, AI, cyber security, technology and major transformation programs.

You will bring coherence to a complex portfolio, uniting digital product, enterprise technology, data and analytics, cyber security and large-scale program delivery into a single, future-focused agenda. A central focus of the role is overseeing Registry Connect, a multi-year transformation of ASIC’s business registers, critical national infrastructure relied upon by millions of companies, professionals and stakeholders.

Leveraging off a strong foundation, this role combines strategy, delivery, influence and stewardship. Success depends as much on shaping culture, building digital fluency, leading teams and influencing senior stakeholders as it does on operational excellence.

Key accountabilities

As Executive Director, Digital, Data & Technology, you will:

* Set and execute ASIC’s enterprise digital, data and technology strategy, aligned to organisational priorities and regulatory outcomes.
* Lead and integrate the Chief Technology Office, Data, Analytics and AI, Cyber Security, Digital Products and Design, and major digital transformation programs.
* Embed data, analytics and responsible AI into frontline supervision, enforcement and decision-making.
* Ensure operational stability through robust cyber security, resilience and digital risk governance in line with government policy and emerging threat landscapes.
* Modernise ASIC’s external digital channels and registers to deliver secure, intuitive, user-centred experiences at a national scale.
* Provide executive oversight of complex, high-value, multi-year investment portfolios, managing risk, sequencing delivery and ensuring value realisation.
* Partner with the Commission, CEO, Executive colleagues and external stakeholders to influence strategic direction and deliver ASIC’s digital future.
* Model inclusive, values-led leadership and build a high-performing executive cohort capable of sustained transformation.

About you

You are a senior digital, data or technology executive with a strong record of leading enterprise-wide transformation in complex, high profile environments. You combine strategic vision with delivery discipline and bring credibility to operate confidently with boards, commissioners, regulators, industry peers and senior leaders.

You will bring

* A leadership style grounded in integrity, composure and public purpose, with a genuine commitment to developing future capability.
* A whole-of-ASIC perspective to digital enablement, shaping how technology, data and digital capability work together to lift regulatory confidence, decision quality and organisational performance
* Deep experience leading large-scale digital, data, technology and/or cyber portfolios, ideally in regulated, data-rich or critical infrastructure environments.
* A proven ability to translate emerging technologies, including data platforms, analytics and AI into practical, trusted outcomes at scale.
* Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience overseeing substantial multi-year investment programs.
* Sophisticated stakeholder management and influencing capability across diverse and sometimes competing interests.

Experience in government, regulation, financial services, infrastructure platforms or similarly complex ecosystems will be highly regarded.

Why ASIC

At ASIC, you will work on issues that matter to markets, to industry and to the Australian community. You will join a values-driven organisation committed to accountability, professionalism and teamwork, with a strong focus on flexibility, inclusion and leadership development.

This role offers the rare chance to leave a lasting legacy: building the digital and data foundations of a modern regulator and shaping how ASIC protects consumers, investors and the integrity of Australia’s financial system for decades to come.
