Position Summary
As an Academic Coach at AIM Business School, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting postgraduate students throughout their academic journey. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a student-facing, fast-paced environment and is passionate about education, coaching, and student success.
You’ll work closely with course facilitators, the academic team and student support to deliver tailored academic guidance. From onboarding and study planning to assignment support and targeted interventions, you’ll be instrumental in helping students stay engaged, confident, and on track to achieve their goals.
This role is open to candidates based anywhere in Australia
Key Tasks
- Provide personalised academic coaching and consultation to postgraduate students
- Develop individualised study and access plans to support diverse learning needs
- Monitor student engagement and academic progress, identifying at-risk learners
- Deliver one-on-one coaching sessions and review assignment drafts
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure cohesive student support
- Lead targeted interventions to improve retention and progression
- Contribute to the school’s retention goal of 68% across all cohorts
- Participate in orientation activities and academic information sessions
- Maintain accurate records and prepare timely reports for governance committees
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and uphold WHS and EEO standards
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Business (required); PhD desirable
- Experience in academic coaching, teaching, or tutoring in higher education
- Strong understanding of academic skills and student lifecycle support
- Exceptional communication, empathy, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver timely interventions
- High level of customer service with a student-first mindset
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively across teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and learning management systems
