OverviewElectronics Engineer in the Global Sustaining team, based in Malvern, UK.
The role supports growth ambitions and delivers on quality targets, ensuring electronic designs perform to the highest standard from launch to retirement.ResponsibilitiesDefine and develop best engineering practice.Using Design for Six Sigma (DfSS) and Design for X tools, diagnose quality issues in production or in the field and implement electronic design updates on Sustaining products.Manage investigations (e.g., 8Ds and ECNs) and liaise cross-functionally to ensure project progression.Design and build prototypes to validate changes and mitigate risks.Collaborate with R&D; during the deployment phase of the product lifecycle to support knowledge transfer to the Sustaining team post-launch.Support Manufacturing Engineering or Customer Support in collecting failure data to confirm issues in production or the field.Support removal of technical debt in electronic design packs and validate/update design updates with suitable replacement components for obsolete parts.QualificationsEssential: Completed apprenticeship, HNC, HND or degree in relevant areas.Preferably a minimum of 1 year's experience with scientific instruments or multi-disciplinary technologies.Qualified ECAD experience (Altium Designer preferred).
Good theoretical and practical knowledge with proven troubleshooting skills.Desirable experience and skillsUnderstanding of source and drawing revision control and PLM systems.Engineering change control documentation experience.SPICE simulation experience.Understanding of PCBA manufacturing and testing techniques.Experience with embedded devices (microcontrollers, FPGAs, SoCs) and related development processes/tools.Experience with low-noise signal chains and data acquisition.Understanding of EMC and safety standards; project planning experience; familiarity with SAP, SharePoint, Office 365.Ability to present complex arguments clearly in writing and orally; experience writing technical reports.Soft skills to collaborate across departments and build strong working relationships; experience in roles involving Operations and Service interaction, including ECN processes, customer feedback, and Lean manufacturing techniques (SPC).
