Legal Counsel
Viva Energy Australia is looking for an Legal Counsel to provide expert legal advice and support across a diverse range of transactions and strategic initiatives. This role will primarily focus on our Convenience & Mobility (Retail) business, where you will partner with stakeholders to navigate complex legal matters, ensure compliance, and enable business growth.
You’ll play a critical role in shaping commercial outcomes, mitigating risk, and delivering practical solutions that align with our long-term objectives.

Responsibilities & Requirements
Convenience & Mobility (Retail)
* Provide legal advice on contract interpretation, risk management, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
* Draft and review a variety of commercial agreements.
* Advise on advertising/marketing campaigns and customer competitions.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure legal support aligns with business objectives and mitigates potential risks.
General Legal Support
* Provide strategic legal advice to senior management and other departments within the organisation.
* Stay updated on relevant legal developments and support compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
* Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures.
* Manage relationships with external legal counsel and other third‑party advisors.
Qualifications
* Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent; admission to practice law in Australia.
* Current Australian Practising Certificate.
* Minimum of 5 years of post‑qualification experience in commercial/corporate law gained within private practice or in‑house (preferably within the convenience retailing or energy sectors).
* In‑depth knowledge of the Australian Consumer Law, with experience in competition law a plus.
* Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
* High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
